Welcome Message from KST

Dear Colleagues

It is a pleasure to co-host the 8th Pan-Pacific Trauma Conference in Seongnam, Korea. I would like to extend my appreciation to all those who are joining this conference.

The Armed Forces Medical Command(AFMC) has been co-hosting PPTC with the Korea Trauma Society from the 2nd conference in 2014, to strengthen the civil and military trauma capacity, and will celebrate its 8th event this year. Trauma experts from more than 7 countries and professional institutions have been participating in the conference, adding the significance to the event. The number of regional trauma centers capable of treating severely injured trauma patients has increased to 16 in Korea. This has resulted in great progress, greatly improving the preventable trauma death rate. ROK Armed Forces has introduced medical evacuation helicopters and is currently training trauma specialists for the best severe trauma treatment, and building a close civil-military cooperation system, in advance of the opening of Armed Forces Trauma Center in 2020.

In response to the growing social interest in the field of trauma, I wish that this year's conference will meet the common goal of 'enhancement of trauma care ability,' for both civil and military trauma specialists, and also hope that the conference will be a venue for the latest knowledge sharing and human networking.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have prepared this conference and hope that everyone who attends will have a fun and meaningful conference.
